When it comes to silly party games, it seems unfair that birthdays get all the attention and Christmas none. It's time to bring back some silly party games for Christmas, and "Pin the beard on Santa" is as good a place to start as any.

To begin this game, you need a cardboard cutout of Santa. This can be purchased at some party stores, or even little gift shops. It doesn't have to be large, but it should be a big face of Santa. You can also find these at educational supply stores, or teacher supply stores, in the section of other cardboard decoration items that teachers put on classroom walls.

Once you get Santa's face home, cut off his beard. That's right, cut if clean off. There's no point in pinning Santa's beard on him if it's already there, right? The beard you sliced off can either be thrown away or keep it to tape back up later, if you want to use Santa's face for another game or as decoration.

Now, you can create several beards out of different items. It's easy to take a piece of thick cardstock and cut the beard out of that, or you can use foam with adhesive backing. You can simply peel the backing off right before it's used. You could also make the beard out of crumpled white paper, simply computer paper or the like. If you want to get a bit more elaborate, create Santa's beard out of cotton balls or a large piece of cotton pulled and shaped into the semblance of a beard.

If you have 5 people playing this game, you'll need 5 beards. 10 people? 10 beards. You get the idea.

You play "pin the beard on Santa' exactly as you play "pin the tale on the donkey" and similar games. Spin the person around, make sure they are blindfolded and then have them try to replace Santa's lost beard. Self-adhesive foam works well because once they place it on the picture of Santa, it's not going to move, so they can't change their blindfolded mind and change the position once they pick a position. It's there for the duration.

No, you can add several variations to this game. For example, you can buy a full-size cardboard Santa (again, the party stores often have these, or school supply stores, or you can make one of your own without much effort). You might have people pin the boots on Santa, pin the hat on Santa, or pin a red button nose on Santa.

One fun (adult) version of this game is to pin the chest hair on Santa. Create a fun cardboard Santa with his suit unbuttoned. It's a big macho for Santa, but also a bit fun. Then fashion "chest hair" out of yarn, threads or fake fur. Attach some sort of adhesive to the back (foam stickers work, or heavy-duty double-stick tape) and have people try and pin the chest hair on Santa the same way they attached his beard or might attach his boots.

Any good game offers a prize for the winner, and this one is no exception. You could always offer Santa to the winning 'pinner" or you could have something more elaborate like a Santa goodie bag, filled with Santa pencils, Santa erasers, a Santa coffee mug, and Santa-themed candy.

Bones for your dog - delicious treat or a deadly snack

There is a difference of opinion among canine experts as to whether bones should be given to a dog raw, cooked, hard, or soft, and even whether they should be given at all. On one point, however, there is total agreement, never give a dog splintering bones from chicken, pork, fowl, and rabbit, (although chicken bones that have been cooked in a pressure cooker until they are very soft can be quite nourishing and safe).

A marrow bone is the traditional symbol of a treat for a dog, and he obviously appreciates it. It may be too big and hard for small dogs. In fact, large breeds generally handle bones much better than small ones. Bones that are mostly cartilage, such as spinal and shoulder bones of veal, knuckle bones, and soft rib bones, are good chewing material that can be entirely consumed.

The real danger is intestinal compaction, especially in small dogs, if the masticated bone has not been mixed with other residue in the dog's stomach. A small amount should cause no trouble if it is given right after a meal. Chop and steak bones are more dangerous. Careful eaters simply clean off the meat and fat, but greedy gobblers run the risk of internal injury from jagged bone splinters. The same is true of a leg of lamb bone.

What is the best policy to follow with a dog of your own? A teething puppy between four and six months of age should always have a bone, real or imitation, to chew on. You might give an adult dog a suitable bone as on occasional treat - for example, once a week. It will give him enormous pleasure, will help to keep his teeth clean and free from tartar, and will occupy him for several hours. But a nylon bone offers the same advantages without the risk!

Non-hormonal contraceptive on the horizon

The quest for a non-hormonal birth control pill seems to be going in the right direction as scientists and researchers develop a new contraceptive drug that avoids the side effects of hormonal birth control. During a recent conference of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the concept of RNA Interference was highlighted as a possible technique that will help develop the new contraceptive drug.

RNA (Ribonucleic Acid) Interference is a way of “silencing a gene” to stop it from working properly, inhibiting a sperm from entering the egg. Researchers from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston have identified a gene called ZP3 which is active in eggs just before they are fertilized. ZP3 produces a protein which allows the sperm to bind to the surface of the egg. If this protein isn't there, the egg can't be fertilized. The Boston team “silenced” the ZP3 gene in mice, and found they could not get pregnant.

At present, there is no contraceptive drug that is non-hormonal and reversible. “What we are trying to do is to think about contraception in a new way. Obviously, there are going to be hurdles and it is going to take a lot of time, but the need is there and we think it can be achieved,” said Dr. Zev Williams when he presented the research to the conference.

According to Professor Bill Ledger, from the University of Sheffield, a lot of women still had side effects, even on the modern hormonal contraceptives. “This is a new concept. If it were available, I am sure a lot of people would want to take it.”

Most hormonal methods of birth control can cause nausea, headaches, and low sex drive. It can also slightly raise the risk of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) and strokes. They are designed to work by suppressing ovulation. However, in a small percentage of cases, ovulation may still take place. For some women, this may occur every single cycle. As a result, these contraceptives prevent pregnancy through a different method. Aside from suppressing ovulation, hormonal methods of birth control may also change the lining of the uterus so that implantation of a fertilized egg cannot take place. The embryo is then expelled from the body during the next menstrual period. These possibilities and side effects are causing controversy among women which make some of them avoid hormonal birth control altogether.

However, the production of this new contraceptive pill is still a decade away and may have its own side-effects. Researchers estimate that it will take about 10 years before clinical trials of RNA Interference contraceptive would be possible.

Obstacles need to be overcome and there is no guarantee that side-effects would completely eradicted, said Dr Martin Fabani, a researcher in the technique at Cambridge University. He even added that, RNA interference is fantastic and there was a big hype around it, but people are starting to see what we call 'off-target' effects - where the therapy has an unwanted effect elsewhere in the body. Every single application has some degree of off target effects.

The advantage of this research into ZP3 is that the gene appears to be active only in eggs prior to the moment of fertilization, and nowhere else in the body. It means that it could be switched off without necessarily affecting either the prior development of the egg and ovulation, or other parts of the body.

Low libido in men is far less common than erectile dysfunction. One study showed that for every fifteen men who reported

having erectile dysfunction, only one of them had low sexual desire. Most men with lack of libido can still achieve

erections, but have lost only the desire to have sex.

What causes low libido?

.For both men and women, causes are divided into physical and psychological concerns.

Physical causes include:

.Anemia. This more commonly affects women because of iron loss during periods.

.Alcoholism.

.Drug abuse.

.Major diseases such as diabetes.

.Obesity

.Hyperprolactinaemia. This is a rare disorder where the pituitary gland produces too much of the hormone prolactin.

.Post-partum. This is the loss of libido that often starts after childbirth. It is almost certainly linked to hormonal

changes that occur at this time. The general stress and trauma of childbirth also plays a part.

.Prescribed drugs, particularly tranquillisers.

.Other hormone abnormalities.

.Low testosterone level - contrary to what many people think, this is rare.

Psychological causes include:

.Depression

.stress and overwork

.anxiety

.hang-ups from childhood

.past sexual abuse or rape

.latent homosexuality

.serious relationship problems with the partner

.difficult living conditions

Porsche 968

Porsche 968 is basically the successor of the Porsche 944.

It has a low nose and wide wheel arches that helps accentuating

the beautiful lines of this classic shape that in a Porsche Guards

Red is a real head turner. It has also the classic GT front engine,

rear wheel drive layout with the added advantage of a rear transaxle

giving almost perfect weight distribution.

Instead of the hidden headlights of the 944, the 968 has visible

pop up headlights, similar to the Porsche 928. This brings the

look of the car inline with the new Porsche 997-911. This change

has also a practical advantage: the headlights can be washed

along with the rest of the car instead of having to pop them up to

wash them.

As for the interior, it remains the same as produced in the 944,

keeping the famous “oval dash”. The designers used the same

robust materials which have given all Porsche owners many years

of trouble free motoring.

The exterior has a few differences: the door mirrors have

been streamlined with the tear drop effect and the wheels

have 5 spoke Cup design alloys. The rear bumper is more

blended and with integral rear light clusters, making it almost

indistinguishable from the bodywork. All these bodywork changes

made the 968 look a lot like the 928, and added the engine heritage,

some people have referred to it as “the daughter of 928”.

The engine is a version of the one first used on the 944 S2: it is a

4 cylinder, 3 liter, 16 valve unit. And they added VarioCam for

optimum power throughout the speed range. It has 240 HP

at 6200 rpm and a torque of 305 Nm at 4100 rpm, given by the

improved combustion chamber and inlet manifold design. At the

time of production, it was a remarkable engine, having the highest

displacement per cylinder of any car engine and also the highest

torque output of any unblown 3 liter engine. Clearly, the result of

Porsches investment in this engine paid off.

The rear-mounted gearbox is a 6-speed manual or 4 speed tiptronic.

It is the first ever mounted on a production car. The chassis has

almost perfect weight distribution and very stiff characteristics.

Usually, most cars start to fail when it comes to breaks and the

reason is that it doesn’t matter how fast the car is in a straight

line if you can’t take a bend (turn) at the right safe speed. But Porsche

brakes have always been the envy of most road sports car

manufacturers. You will notice little or no or no discernable fatigue

even under harsh use of Porsche 968. ABS adds even more

safety to the already excellent braking system. Also, what makes

the brakes so effective is that the wheels themselves are designed

to prevent the tire from coming off the rim in the event of a sudden pressure

loss.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

A few years ago my dear friend, Robbie, gave me new insight into the significance of this song. We must have been singing it in a service and I told her how much I liked it. She said something like, "But have you ever thought of the seriousness of the words--about what you're saying when you sing this song?"

And, therein, lies the beginning of another journey with the Lord...

I had to admit to her--and myself--that, no, I really hadn't thought much about it. The song is so upbeat and we usually sing it with such enthusiasm that it gives the impression that I'm ready to do anything for the cause of Jesus. "Send me anywhere, Lord! I'll do anything! I'll go to Africa (or the popular third-world country of the month) and be a missionary! I'll lay my life on the line for You, Lord! I'll drop everything to serve you!"

But then I begin to sound like Peter--the pre-crucifixion version--ready to walk on water, even get in front of Jesus' face and stop Him from going to the cross, or run out and cut off someone's ear,. Peter was ready all right--before the arrest actually came and he was recognized by an adolescent girl.

Poor impulsive Peter. Yeah, and poor reluctant me! And perhaps I am not alone in not really considering the cost of volunteering for duty.

The song comes from Isaiah 6, where the prophet says, "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, Here am I. Send me!" (Isaiah 6:8 NIV)

The Lord's call can elicit varied responses from us, but basically they seem to fall into one of two categories. The first one--the one Isaiah gives--might be termed:

"What do you want me to do, Lord?"

To be fair, let's look at the event that led up to Isaiah's rush to volunteer--with no details about what he was to do, I might add.

"In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.

"And they called to one another: 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.'

"At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.

"'Woe to me!' I cried. 'I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among the people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.'

"Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, 'See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.'

At this point, Isaiah, steps up front and center and volunteers.

Now, although none of us are probably called exactly as the prophet Isaiah, he was just a human being--as are you and I. When I put myself in his place--as little as I can imagine it and feel it, it's a vast understatement to say that this was quite an impressive scene.

Let's say that any of us has witnessed such a spectacle. The often overused word awesome comes to mind. Although it is used to describe everything from a movie to a praise and worship song and more, surely no one would argue that it is misused in this regard. In fact, it falls short of describing the effect of being in the presence of, and beholding, Almighty God. Moses could not see the face of God because it would be fatal, but Isaiah apparently does such a thing and, naturally, believes he is not long for this world.

Then his lips are made clean by one of the seraphim (highest order of angels) who serve God.

THEN, Almighty God asks the all-important question. I'd like to think that, under these overwhelming conditions that I, too, would raise my hand in the air and wave it wildly like a kid who finally knows the right answer in school and say, "Me, me! I'll go!"

But then, I come back to the reality of my real life and I realize: Many times I know as well as I'm sitting here that the Lord is calling me to do something and yet...I...hesitate. Oh, if it falls into the category of calling the equipped, I'll gladly answer the call. "Yes, Lord, I'll go." In fact, these times usually call for me to do something I know entails the use of gifts and talents I know I have, and are well within my comfort zone. To be honest, I don't have to even wait for a call in these situations but often tell Him, "Lord, let me serve here."

Now, I'm saying this in full recognition that God does give us particular gifts and talents and directs us in their use. And we are expected to use them. He knows us better than we know ourselves and gives us outlets for service which are useful in the Kingdom and--surprise, surprise!--are even pleasurable to us. But doesn't He equip the called as well? Might we be called to step out in faith and do something which does not seem to fit in with our individual gifts and/or talents?

In those instances--when a challenge is presented in response to my "What do you want me to do, Lord?" - that my question becomes:

"Lord! You want me to do WHAT?"

Now, Isaiah didn't flinch when the Lord told him what the task was:

"He said, 'Go and tell this people: 'Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing. But never perceiving.'

Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes.

Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.'" (v9-10)

I would probably have said something like, "Well, then...what's the point?" It looks like a waste of time and energy, as well as being potentially embarrassing--or worse.

But then that's me--not Isaiah.

The remembrance of "Here I Am, Lord", and the experience with Robbie, came to mind only recently. I've been rereading Prayer of Jabez by Bruce Wilkinson. In writing about how God usually responds to our request that He "enlarge my territory", he says,

"As God's chosen, blessed sons and daughters, we are expected to attempt something large enough that failure is guaranteed...unless God steps in. Take a minute to prayerfully comprehend how contrary that truth is to everything you would humanly choose: it goes against common sense, it contradicts your previous life experience, it seems to disregard your feelings, trainings, and need for security; it sets you up to look like a fool and a loser. Yet it is God's plan for His most-honored servants."

Wilkinson goes on, "For most of us our reluctance comes from getting our numbers right, but our arithmetic wrong. For example, when we're deciding what size territory God has in mind for us, we keep an equation in our heart that adds up something like this:

"My abilities + experience+ training + my personality and appearance + my past + the expectations of others = my assigned territory.

"No matter how many sermons we've heard about God's power to work through us, we simply gloss over the meaning of that one little word through. Sure, we say we want God to work through us, but what we really mean is by or in association with. Yet God's reminder to us is the same one He gave the Jews when they returned from captivity to a decimated homeland: 'Not by might nor by power but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.' (Zechariah 4:6)

"Our God", Wilkinson continues, "specializes in working through normal people who believe in a supernormal God who will do His work through them. What He's waiting for is the invitation. That means God's math would look more like this:

"My willingness and weakness + God's will and supernatural power = my expanding territory."

For all his impulsiveness and reliance on his own strength, when Peter stepped out of the boat in response to Jesus, he started out right, with his eyes on Jesus. As long as he did that he was okay. It was only when he considered the circumstances that he began to sink.

Lord, let me remember that I do nothing for you out of my own strength; that it is not by my might nor by my power but by Your spirit. Today I step out of the boat relying fully on You.

Google, Yahoo and MSN Live are such big players in providing traffic the question is can a website survive if the big engines have banned it?

Many myths abound about Gandhi, Mohandas Karamchand known as Mahatma "Great Souled") Gandhi (1869-1948).

How bad guys hack into websites using sql injection

SQL Injection is one of the most common security vulnerabilities on the web. Here I'll try to explain in detail this kind of vulnerabilities with examples of bugs in PHP and possible solutions.

If you are not so confident with programming languages and web technologies you may be wondering what SQL stay for. Well, it's an acronym for Structured Query Language (pronounced "sequel"). It's "de facto" the standard language to access and manipulate data in databases.

Nowadays most websites rely on a database (usually MySQL) to store and access data.

Our example will be a common login form. Internet surfers see those login forms every day, you put your username and password in and then the server checks the credentials you supplied. Ok, that's simple, but what happens exactly on the server when he checks your credentials?

The client (or user) sends to the server two strings, the username and the password.

Usually the server will have a database with a table where the user's data are stored. This table has at least two columns, one to store the username and one for the password. When the server receives the username and password strings he will query the database to see if the supplied credentials are valid. He will use an SQL statement for that that may look like this:

SELECT * FROM users WHERE username='SUPPLIED_USER' AND password='SUPPLIED_PASS'

For those of you who are not familiar with the SQL language, in SQL the ' character is used as a delimiter for string variables. Here we use it to delimit the username and password strings supplied by the user.

In this example we see that the username and password supplied are inserted into the query between the ' and the entire query is then executed by the database engine. If the query returns any rows, then the supplied credentials are valid (that user exists in the database and has the password that was supplied).

Now, what happens if a user types a ' character into the username or password field? Well, by putting only a ' into the username field and living the password field blank, the query would become:

SELECT * FROM users WHERE username=''' AND password=''

This would trigger an error, since the database engine would consider the end of the string at the second ' and then it would trigger a parsing error at the third ' character. Let's now what would happen if we would send this input data:

Username: ' OR 'a'='a

Password: ' OR 'a'='a

The query would become

SELECT * FROM users WHERE username='' OR 'a'='a' AND password='' OR 'a'='a'

Since a is always equal to a, this query will return all the rows from the table users and the server will "think" we supplied him with valid credentials and let as in - the SQL injection was successful :).

Now we are going to see some more advanced techniques.. My example will be based on a PHP and MySQL platform. In my MySQL database I created the following table:

There's a single row in that table with data:

To check the credentials I made the following query in the PHP code:

The server is also configured to print out errors triggered by MySQL (this is useful for debugging, but should be avoided on a production server).

So, last time I showed you how SQL injection basically works. Now I'll show you how can we make more complex queries and how to use the MySQL error messages to get more information about the database structure.

Lets get started! So, if we put just an ' character in the username field we get an error message like

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '''' and password=''' at line 1

That's because the query became

select username, password from users where username=''' and password=''

What happens now if we try to put into the username field a string like ' or user='abc ?

The query becomes

select username, password from users where username='' or user='abc ' and password=''

And this give us the error message

Unknown column 'user' in 'where clause'

That's fine! Using these error messages we can guess the columns in the table. We can try to put in the username field ' or email=' and since we get no error message, we know that the email column exists in that table. If we know the email address of a user, we can now just try with ' or email='testuser@testing. com in both the username and password fields and our query becomes

select username, password from users where username='' or email='testuser@testing. com' and password='' or email='testuser@testing. com'

which is a valid query and if that email address exists in the table we will successfully login!

You can also use the error messages to guess the table name. Since in SQL you can use the table. column notation, you can try to put in the username field ' or user. test=' and you will see an error message like

Fine! Let's try with ' or users. test=' and we have

Unknown column 'users. test' in 'where clause'

so logically there's a table named users :).

Basically, if the server is configured to give out the error messages, you can use them to enumerate the database structure and then you may be able to use these informations in an attack.
